KU's Danielle McCray tries to make a move on Colorado's Kelly Jo Mullaney during the Jayhawks' matchup with CU on Feb. 4, 2009.

? Colorado University must look like a life raft on the horizon for Kansas University’s sinking women’s basketball ship.

In their last eight games, the Jayhawks’ only victory has been against CU and now the Buffaloes are on tap again tonight.

Tipoff will be at 8 p.m. at the Coors Events Center. The game will not be televised and the radio broadcast will be delayed because of the KU-Iowa State men’s game.

On paper, Colorado is the Big 12’s worst team. The Buffs are last in the league in scoring, scoring defense, rebounding and turnover margin.

On the flip side, however, Kansas has been road kill in the Big 12. The Jayhawks haven’t defeated a league team away from home since the last game of the 2006-2007 season, a streak that stands at 13 and counting.

With journeys to Iowa State and Oklahoma State remaining, tonight could be the Jayhawks’ last opportunity to stop the road bleeding until next season.

One thing is certain. Tonight’s winner will escape the crowded conference cellar. KU and CU are tied for last place in league standings with Missouri and Nebraska. All four have 2-8 road marks.

KU knocked off Missouri, 75-58, on Jan. 14 in Allen Fieldhouse and the Jayhawks have only one win since — a 65-54 decision over the Buffs on Feb. 4.

Tonight will be the first of back-to-back Think Pink games for the Jayhawks. They’ll wear uniforms with pink trim when they meet pink-clad Colorado tonight, then don pink togs for Sunday afternoon’s home game against Iowa State.

The pink uniforms are a Women’s Basketball Coaches Assn. initiative to raise breast cancer awareness.
