KU vaulter Scott honored

By J-W Staff Reports     Feb 4, 2009

Kansas University junior Jordan Scott has been named Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week after matching a season- and nation’s-best pole vault of 5.50 meters (181/2 feet) this past weekend at the adidas Classic in Lincoln, Neb.

“I’m just as surprised as I was last year,” Scott said. “It’s definitely an honor. I’m glad to get it. It was cool last year when Kate Sultanova and I got it in one week. I’ll take it.”

It is the second time in his indoor career that Scott has been honored by the Big 12.

Scott, a junior from Watkinsville, Ga., has won four vault titles in four meets this season.

The Jayhawks will travel Friday and Saturday to the New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York.
