Kansas City, Kan. ? Freshmen Whitney Berry and Jamie White each scored a goal to lead Kansas University past Saint Louis University, 2-1, Saturday in an exhibition soccer match at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.
The Jayhawks moved to 1-2 in the spring exhibition season.
Berry’s goal was her third of the spring season, while White recorded her first goal.
Freshmen goalkeepers Kat Liebetrau and Logan Reed each played one half. Liebetrau held the Billikens scoreless for the first 45 minutes.
The Jayhawks will host South Dakota State next Saturday at 2 p.m. in the next-to-last contest of the spring.
Knoxville, Tenn. ? Emily Cressy scored the game-winning goal and added an assist, while goalkeeper Kat Liebetrau made five saves in Kansas University’s 2-1 soccer victory over Pepperdine on Friday in the first match of the Lady Vol Invitational at Regal Soccer Stadium.
KU (2-0) scored two goals early in each half and held on as the Waves (1-1) peppered the Jayhawk goal with 20 shots, including six on net. Liebetrau stood tall for five of them to improve to 2-0 in her first two starts.
KU’s Shannon McCabe gave the Jayhawks an early lead. The senior accepted a pass from Cressy and scored from a tough angle on the far side of the goal.
Early in the second half, Kim Boyer played a ball to the top of the box where Monica Dolinsky flicked a pass ahead to Cressy, who finished with a shot to the near post from 10 yards out.
