Kansas University safety Darrell Stuckey was named to the preseason watch list for the Bronko Nagurski Award on Tuesday, the fourth time this preseason the senior from Kansas City, Kan., has been tapped as a candidate for a national award.
The Nagurski Award, which honored former KU cornerback Aqib Talib as a finalist in 2007, is given annually to the nation’s top defensive player.
An all-Big 12 first-team selection last season after finishing with 98 tackles and five interceptions, Stuckey is also being considered for the Bednarik Award (given to the top defender), the Thorpe Award (top defensive back) and the Lott Award (top defensive player on and off the field).
