Woodling’s Word to the Wise: Manhattan

By Chuck Woodling     Aug 14, 2009

Just 90 minutes from Lawrence, Kansas State’s home has always been an in-and-out destination, although I remember eating at the Hibachi Hut in Aggieville many years ago.

If at all possible, I try to stop at the Vista Drive-In on Tuttle Creek Boulevard for a burger and fries basket or a shake on the way to the football stadium or Bramlage Coliseum.

Like me, I’m sure many folks miss Lawrence’s Vista Drive-In, now the site of a Sixth Street used-car lot.

Guilty Pleasure: None, really, but K-State grads tell me the ice cream sold at Call Hall on campus is marvelous. Trouble is, the creamery has limited hours and I’ve never been there when it’s open.
