Woodling’s Word to the Wise: College Station, Texas

High air fares preclude flying into the Bryan-College Station aerodrome so we usually flew to Houston Bush Airport and made the drive — a little more than an hour and a half — to the home of Texas A&M.

In other words, I believe the only place I’ve ever eaten in College Station is at a Whataburger.

By staying in Houston, more dining and entertainment possibilities exist. For instance, it was in Houston where I first ate at a Brazilian restaurant. Meat on a pole. Who would have thought?

One time, while in Houston, we just took off from the motel looking for a Mexican restaurant and finally found one in the corner of a strip mall. The menu was all in Spanish and the food was so delicious we went back again a couple of years later. I wish I could remember the name of it.

Guilty Pleasure: Listening to the A&M crowd sing the Aggie War Hymn. Hullabaloo, caneck, caneck. …
