By J-W Staff Reports     Apr 22, 2009

Kansas University women’s basketball assistant Tamika Raymond is taking a leave of absence from pro basketball.

Raymond informed the Connecticut Sun of the WNBA that she plans to take the year off to focus on her job as an aide to KU coach Bonnie Henrickson.

A former Connecticut University standout, Raymond was acquired by the Sun last March from the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for Kristen Rasmussen.

She averaged just over six points and five rebounds during her six seasons in the WNBA. She played in all 34 games for the Sun last season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.9 rebounds.
