? Kansas University’s seventh-inning rally fell short, and the Jayhawks suffered a 3-2 Big 12 softball setback Sunday to Texas to give the Longhorns a sweep of the weekend series.

KU fell to 16-25 overall, 4-8 in the Big 12, while UT improved to 34-14 and 10-4.

Texas led, 2-0, in the first and 3-0 through three innings, but the Jayhawks pushed across a single run in the top of the fifth. Kolby Fesmire put down a sacrifice bunt, but reached base on an error. She moved over one base on a fielder’s choice before Elle Pottorf’s hit to right field allowed Fesmire to score from second and put KU within two runs at 3-1.

In the top of the seventh inning, Liz Kocon scored on a single through the left side by Val Chapple.

KU stranded a runner on base in each inning.
