A total of 920 Westar Energy customers in Douglas County were without power about 7:45 Thursday morning after powerful storms ripped through the area overnight.

The outages are mostly along the 23rd Street corridor and affect traffic lights at the intersection of 23rd and Iowa streets, as well as 23rd Street at Naismith Drive and Louisiana Street, according to Westar. Police have erected a four-way stop sign at the Louisiana Street intersection.

All told, about 1,150 Westar customers in Kansas were without power as of 7:30 Thursday morning, including about 130 people in Leavenworth County.
