? Former Kansas University track and field javelin standout Scott Russell is on track to compete at his first Olympic Games.

Russell placed second in his speciality in Thursday’s preliminaries at Canada’s Olympic Trials with a throw of 74.33 meters. He has advanced to Saturday’s 4 p.m. finals. A top four finish in the field of 10 would assure Russell a spot in the 2008 Olympics.
