The Kansas University women’s basketball team was unable to roll the momentum from its first Big 12 win of the season into back-to-back triumphs, falling 59-41 Tuesday night to Colorado in Boulder.
The Jayhawks (12-6 overall, 1-4 Big 12) led 18-8 at the 8:20 mark in the first half after freshman Nicollette Smith cashed one of her two three-pointers on the night. But Colorado (13-5, 2-4) then went on a 13-0 run over the next 4:59 and never looked back.
The women were led by sophomore Danielle McCray, whose 12 points and 10 rebounds gave her a double-double in two straight games. Junior Ivana Catic scored 7, while six tallies were posted apiece by Smith, senior Taylor McIntosh and sophomore Sade Morris.
Things don’t get any easier for Bonnie Henrickson’s club, as they’ll face No. 20 Texas A&M at home Saturday at 8 p.m., then travel to Norman, Okla., to square off with the No. 11 Sooners next Wednesday at 8 p.m.
