Kansas University’s softball team has been projected to finish ninth in this season’s Big 12 Conference softball race. In a vote of league coaches, the Jayhawks were predicted to wind up ahead of only Iowa State in the 10-team league.

Texas A&M was tapped as the preseason favorite for the third year in a row. Oklahoma was second and Baylor third followed by Missouri, Texas, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, KU and ISU.

Kansas will open Feb. 8 at a tournament in Orlando, Fla.
