Cleveland State 72, No. 11 Syracuse 69
Syracuse, N.Y. — Cedric Jackson swished a 60-foot shot at the buzzer to give Cleveland State the victory Monday.
Jackson took an inbounds pass with 2.2 seconds remaining and let the desperation shot go just as time expired to send the Orange (9-1) to their first loss.
Cleveland State (7-4) led, 69-64, with 26.5 seconds to play.
Jonny Flynn hit a three from the right corner to make it 69-67 with 19 seconds left, and the Orange press forced a turnover with 15 seconds to go.
Andy Rautins went for the win but missed a three from the right corner.
Syracuse’s Arinze Onuaku grabbed the rebound and tied the game with 2.2 seconds to go.
J’Nathan Bullock led Cleveland State with 18 points, all in the second half, while Norris Cole had 16 and Jackson 13, including his only make in five tries from beyond the arc.
Eric Devendorf led Syracuse with 17 points, while Flynn had 16.
No. 2 Connecticut 91, Stony Brook 57
Hartford, Conn. — Jeff Adrien had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Connecticut returned from an 11-day break for exams to rout Stony Brook.
It was the 36th career double-double for the senior forward, who was one of five Huskies in double figures. Hasheem Thabeet had 18 points and nine rebounds, while Jerome Dyson added 16 points and Craig Austrie and A.J. Price had 13 each for UConn (9-0).
Danny Carter led Stony Brook (5-5) with 20 points.
