OU will be too much for MU in Big 12 Championship

Oklahoma enters Saturday’s Big 12 Championship a 17-point favorite and there’s no reason to think the Sooners won’t cover the spread.

After all, OU (11-1) has defeated — no, more like bludgeoned — its opponents by an average of 32 points per game in victories this season.

The Sooners’ 53.33 points per game ranks third in the history of college football.

Other than Texas, there’s no defense in the Big 12 capable of “stopping” Oklahoma. The Longhorns still gave up 35 to the Sooners in their Oct. 11 meeting.

Should OU defeat MU for the 19th time in 20 meetings and play for the BCS Championship against Alabama (11.5 points surrendered per game, third in nation) or Florida (12.3 points surrendered, fourth), then OU may be held under its season scoring average.

As for Saturday, don’t expect it to happen.

Prediction: Oklahoma 60, Missouri 28.
