? Craig Corriston’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh lifted Nebraska to a 7-6 Big 12 Conference baseball victory over Kansas University on Friday at Hawks Field.

The Huskers improved to 27-6-1 overall and 12-3-1 in the Big 12, while the Jayhawks fell to 24-17 and 4-9.

KU scored six runs off Nebraska starting pitcher Johnny Dorn, who had a season earned-run average of 1.98 coming into the game.

However, the Jayhawks committed two errors, leading to three unearned runs.

KU scored the game’s first run in the top of the second, but NU answered with a pair in the bottom.

Kansas scored two in the third, but Nebraska tied it at 3 with a single run in the bottom of the third.

NU went ahead, 5-3, with a two-run fourth, but the Jayhawks plated three in the fifth for a 6-5 lead that held until the decisive seventh.

In the seventh, Jake Mort opened with a single, then moved to third on consecutive walks. Corriston followed with his two-run single to left.

John Allman, Ryne Price, Erik Morrison and Preston Land each had two hits for KU. Morrison and Tony Thompson each had two RBIs.

Nick Czyz (2-4) was the tough-luck loser after allowing seven runs – four earned – off six hits over six innings.

Brett Bollman and Paul Smyth didn’t allow a run over the final two innings.

The series will continue at 3:35 p.m. today.
