A story in the April 5 Lawrence Journal-World regarding court appearances for Kansas University basketball player Brandon Rush was not entirely accurate.
At the time, it was reported that Rush was facing contempt charges for failing to pay child support.
While Rush was scheduled to appear in court, a family court commissioner had dismissed the case on April 2.
As was mentioned in the story, however, a judge had the file in his possession and the court’s online records could not be updated until the judge had released the file. Additionally, because the office was locked, the court spokeswoman said she was unable to verify the information that had been posted online and on which the story was based.
It was also mentioned that Rush had an upcoming court appearance in Lawrence municipal court for failing to pay court fines. Rush, however, paid his municipal court fines March 18 and has no legal obligations to the city of Lawrence.
