Kansas University softball fans will be seeing plenty of pink Saturday when the Jayhawks play host to three other schools in a fall exhibition tournament stressing breast cancer awareness.
The Jayhawk Pink Classic will begin at 10 a.m. with Washburn meeting Iowa Central. Then Washburn and Emporia State will collide at noon, followed by Kansas against Iowa Central at 2 p.m. and Emporia State at 4 p.m.
Players from all four teams will dress in pink, the bases will be pink and pink ribbons will be placed throughout Arrocha Ballpark to show support for the fight against breast cancer.
Fans also are encouraged to wear pink, and will have the option of making a cash donation in one of four donation buckets representing each team.
In addition, Arrocha Ballpark will feature a ribbon board on which fans, for a $1 donation, can place a pink ribbon honoring the person of their choice.
Breast cancer survivors and patients nominated by the participating teams will throw out the first pitch before each game.
