Kansas men’s golf in 16th at Prestige

? True freshman Brad Hopfinger shot rounds of 73 and 72 to lead the way for Kansas University’s men’s golf team Monday at the Prestige at PGA West.

KU is in 16th place after the first day of play at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West in Palm Springs, Calif.

Hopfinger is tied for 20th. Other KU results: Walt Koelbel, tied for 43rd, 75-74-149; Zach Pederson, tied for 72nd, 77-77-154; and Bobby Knowles and Joey Mundy, tied for 77th at 157.

Charlotte leads the team race with 566 strokes. KU is 16th with 602.

The tournament concludes today.
