CORVALLIS, ORE. ? Oregon State junior C.J. Giles is not practicing with the team during informal pre-season workouts so he can concentrate on his schoolwork, OSU officials told the Corvallis Gazette Times.
The 6-foot-11 transfer from Kansas University can become eligible for the Dec. 7 game at Cal State-Bakersfield if he does well academically during fall term, OSU officials said.
Coach Jay John is making sure that happens by having Giles spend as much time as possible on his classes.
“C.J. is not working out with the team, but has not been kicked off or suspended,” OSU assistant sports information director Michael Collins said.
“In no way, shape or form is he off the team.”
The Beavers open official fall practice at 7 p.m. Oct. 12.
