KU women’s golf in lead

? Kansas University’s women’s golf team is on pace to defend its Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational title.

Through Monday’s first two rounds at Colbert Hills Golf Course, KU holds a two-stroke lead in the team race.

KU shot 302-298-600 to lead runner-up Missouri (303-299-602).

Sophomore Camilla Svensson led the Jayhawks with a 75-72-147 to tie for fourth. KU’s Meghna Bal and Grace Thiry were in a three-way tie for seventh at 149.

Other KU scores: Emily Powers, tied for 11th, 150; Annie Giangrosso, tied for 15th, 151; Meghan Gockel, tied for 19th, 153; and Jennifer Clark, tied for 31st, 157.

“The girls played real steady today and we had perfect weather conditions,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said. Overall, I was very pleased. We are ready to head into the third round tomorrow.”

The final round is today.
