Kansas coach Bill Self said Tuesday night that injured guard Brandon Rush’s surgery might not force him to miss any games next season.
Self said Rush, who tore his right ACL last week, would have surgery late this week or early next week and expected a six month rehab period give or take a month on either side.
“There’s a great chance Brandon will not miss a game,” Self said. “We will not push it. It depends how rehab goes. I’ve had numerous experiences, players come back in a far shorter amount of time than six months. If he approaches rehab in the right state of mind, there’s no reason Brandon won’t be 100% this season.”
Self said one of KU’s team doctors would do the surgery. He said KU’s medical team is the best around and there was no reason for anyone else to do the surgery.
Self said Rush should be able to do some shooting and running within three months.
