Women’s hoops releases ’07-08 nonleague slate

Home games against Indiana, Marquette, Saint Louis and Boston University and trips to Cal-Berkeley and Xavier highlight Kansas University’s 2007-08 women’s basketball nonconference schedule, announced Monday.

Cal (23-9) returns Pac-10 player of the year Devanei Hampton from a team that topped KU, 73-65, last year in Lawrence.

Marquette (26-7) returns first-team all Big East player Krystal Ellis, while Xavier (26-8) returns first-team all-Atlantic 10 player Amber Harris.

Indiana (19-14) returns four of its top five scorers.

KU also will play NCAA Tournament team UC Riverside (21-11), a team that returns all its players, at home, as well as Creighton, St. Louis, Hartford, UMKC, San Jose State. The Jayhawks will also participate in the Southern Methodist University Tournament Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 23 and 24) in Dallas, Texas. Western Michigan, Drake and SMU join KU at the event.
