KU track gets academic honors

Kansas University placed 19 student-athletes on the Academic All-Big 12 Track and Field teams – 11 women and eight men – and KU led the league with six representatives with perfect 4.0 grade-point averages.

KU’s men’s first-team honorees were: Eric Babb; Mark Gdowski; Cody Roberts; Adrian Ludwig; Egor Agafonov; and Eric Fattig, an engineering major with a 4.0 grade-point average.

Paul Hefferon and Colby Wissel were second-team selections.

KU women’s first-teamers: Abby Emsick (4.0 GPA in nursing); Janiece Gatson; Laura Major; Melissa Moody (4.0 GPA in sports management); Ashley Brown; Libby Harmon; Sha’Ray Butler; Megan James; Emily Reimer; and Zlata Tarasova.

James, Reimer and Tarasova all posted 4.0 GPAs.

Laura Gjerde made the second team.
