KU recruits to play here

Some Kansas University basketball recruiting targets will compete at the eighth-annual Jayhawk Invitational Friday through Sunday at Allen Fieldhouse, Horesji Center and various high school gyms.

Here are some possible KU prospects (none are current seniors) and their teams who will head to Lawrence this weekend. A schedule of games will be available at jayhawkinvitational.com later this week.

KC Pump N Run: Travis Releford, 6-foot-4, Roeland Park Miege; Steve Moore, 6-9, Truman High, Independence, Mo.; Marcus Denmon, 6-1, K.C. Hogan Prep.

Athletes First: Xavier Henry, 6-6, Putnam City (Okla.) High.

St. Louis Eagles: John Brandenburg, 6-10, DeSmet High, St. Louis; Scott Suggs, 6-6, Washington High, Augusta, Mo.

Howard Pulley: Royce White, 6-7, DeLaSalle High, Minneapolis; Rodney Williams, 6-6, Cooper High, Robbinsdale, Minn.

M33M Magic: Elliott Williams, 6-4, St. George’s Independent School, Memphis; Sampson Carter, 6-5, Baton Rouge, La.

Ft. Sooy, No Limit: Verdell Jones, 6-4, Central High, Champaign, Ill.

Also on hand will be Matt Carlino, a 6-foot-2 eighth grader – yes, eighth grader – from Phoenix. He’s already a major-college prospect. More information will be available on the tournament later in the week.
