Students and faculty interested in purchasing tickets to Kansas University’s first and second round games in the NCAA Tournament can go online to www.kuathletics.com right now to get their tickets.
The Jayhawks earned a No. 1 seed in the West region and will play their first game on Friday at the United Center in Chicago. KU will play the winner of Tuesday’s Florida A&M/Niagara opening round game.
Kansas University was allotted 550 tickets to the game, and has set aside about 15 percent for students and about 10 percent for faculty and staff. The remainder of the tickets will go to donors in the top two levels of the Williams Fund who have already indicated their interest in tickets.
Associate Athletic Director Jim Marchiony said the department was trying to find a few more tickets to sell, but he wasn’t sure whether that would happen.
Also, the basketball team is expected to return to Allen Fieldhouse between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. tonight, depending on weather and when the team’s charter flight takes off. The team, as usual, will return to the south side of Allen Fieldhouse.
