Former Jayhawk retires

By J-W Staff Reports     Mar 7, 2007

Linebacker Don Davis, a former Kansas University standout who played in the NFL for 11 seasons, has retired.

The 34-year-old Davis, an Olathe South product, spent the last four seasons with the New England Patriots. He entered the league as a non-drafted free agent.

In other news involving a former Jayhawk, fullback Moran Norris officially re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers. Norris, a six-year pro, agreed to terms on a three-year pact near the end of last season, but could not sign until free agency began this year because of the terms of the one-year contract he signed with the 49ers as a free agent last spring.

Norris has also played for the Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints. He was a fourth-round selection of the Saints in 2001.
