Lincoln, Neb. ? Marcus Perry walked onto the court Monday with his 1-year-old daughter Akayla in his arms, bringing his family with him as he was honored on Nebraska’s senior day.
A couple of hours later, Perry walked off the floor after scoring a career-high tying 25 points and leading the Huskers to an 85-73 victory over Oklahoma State.
“It was so emotional,” Perry said. “It’s hard to explain. All the fans, your family is here – in my case my wife and my daughters. It gave me that energy.”
Perry hit six three-point shots in the first half as Nebraska opened up a 13-point halftime lead on its way to a 29-point advantage early in the second half.
“My adrenaline got to flowing,” Perry said. “I missed my first two. But when I hit that first one all net, I knew it was going to be a good night for me.”
Nebraska (17-13, 6-10 Big 12) made its first five shots of the second half, four of them three-pointers. The Cornhuskers raced to a 49-23 lead on Jay-R Strowbridge’s three-pointer with 17:23 remaining.
