Kelly Mehrtens won’t have to take a pay cut to become athletic director at North Carolina-Wilmington.

Mehrtens, who was named the UNCW’s AD on Monday – her 44th birthday, agreed to a four-year contract worth $171,000 per year.

Coincidentally, that’s the same salary Mehrtens was earning as Senior Woman Administrator with the Kansas University athletic department.

Mehrtens, who spent the last four years at KU, will take over the UNCW post on Aug. 13. Her deal also includes the use of an automobile, 24 vacation days and a country club membership.
