Boulder, Colo. ? Kansas University’s women’s basketball team rallied from a double-digit halftime deficit, but ultimately fell, 59-50, to Colorado on Saturday in the Coors Events Center.
The Jayhawks (9-19 overall, 3-12 Big 12 Conference) trailed by a dozen, 30-18, at halftime, but pulled within a point with 3:30 remaining.
However, the Buffaloes (12-15, 6-9) outscored KU, 11-3, down the stretch.
Kansas’ Danielle McCray led all scorers with 20 points. She hit eight of 19 field goals and two of seven three-pointers and contributed six rebounds.
She was the only Jayhawk who scored in double figures.
Freshman Kelly Kohn added nine points, and Shaquina Mosley – whose two free throws cut the deficit to a point late – contributed eight points.
The Jayhawks hit just 29.5 percent of their field goals, while Colorado hit 46.8 percent.
Kansas kept it close by hitting five three-pointers to CU’s one.
Aija Putina came off the bench to lead the Buffaloes with 14 points.
Kansas will conclude its regular season Thursday against Missouri in Columbia, Mo. The Jayhawks and Tigers will tip off at 6:30 p.m.
