More than 100 people with tickets to Saturday night’s Kansas-Texas A&M basketball game were not allowed into the game because there were no seats for them.
KU freshman George Ressler was among those left standing outside. He got in line about 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. game, but was never allowed inside, he said.
Ressler said someone from the athletic department told the crowd that the game had been oversold, and that no one else would be allowed in.
Refunds were to be processed at the box office Saturday night, Ressler said he was told.
Associate Athletic Director Jim Marchiony said the fans couldn’t be let in because students and others in the general admission section were taking up more than their one seat per person. Marchiony said the athletic department took about 40 students and let them watch the game inside Hadl Auditorium, which adjoins Allen Fieldhouse.
Most of those affected were students; however, some fans with general admission tickets were also refused admittance.
