DAYTON, OHIO ? It was a battle of streaks. Pittsburgh’s ended. Dayton’s didn’t.
Brian Roberts scored 31 points, and Dayton upset No. 6 Pittsburgh, 80-55, on Saturday night, extending the Flyers’ winning streak to 10 and handing the Panthers their first loss of the season.
Pittsburgh had no answer for Roberts, who got repeated open looks and took full advantage.
“Brian Roberts is phenomenal,” Dayton coach Brian Gregory said. “I’ve been saying for a long time he’s the most efficient guard in the country, but now I think he’s becoming one of the best.”

Memphis, Tenn. – Robert Dozier had 18 points, and Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 17.
Shawn Taggart added 15 points and seven rebounds to help the Tigers match the second-best start in school history, dating to the 1982-83 season.
Chase Budinger had 20 points for Arizona.

Los Angeles – Darren Collison scored 14 points, and freshman Kevin Love had 13 points and nine rebounds.
Josh Shipp and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute added 10 points apiece, and Russell Westbrook had nine points and six assists for the Bruins.
No. 7 Michigan St. 93, Wisconsin-Green Bay 75
East Lansing, Mich. – Raymar Morgan scored 24 points to lead Michigan State in its highest-scoring game in the last two seasons.
Kalin Lucas had 17 points, and Drew Neitzel added 16 for the Spartans, who tied the school’s 2000-01 Final Four team for the fastest start in Tom Izzo’s 13 years as coach.
No. 8 Georgetown 78, American U. 51
Washington – Roy Hibbert broke out of a scoring slump with 14 points, and Georgetown shot 60 percent from the field.
Hibbert somehow managed to grab only one rebound in 20 minutes, continuing a string of uneven early-season performances from the 7-foot-2 preseason All-American.

Seattle – JaJuan Smith scored 18 points, and Tennessee made up for Chris Lofton’s cold shooting with its usual strong defense.
The Volunteers are 12-1 for the first time since 2000-01.
No. 12 Marquette 77, Savannah St. 37
Milwaukee – Lazar Hayward and Dominic James each had 12 points, and Marquette earned its sixth straight victory.
No. 13 Indiana 97, Chicago St. 59
Bloomington, Ind. – Eric Gordon scored 22 points, and D.J. White had 21 points and a career-high 15 rebounds for the Hoosiers.
The win put coach Kelvin Sampson within one victory of tying Branch McCracken’s school record for most consecutive home victories to open a career.

Nashville, Tenn. – The Commodores improved to 12-0, tying the 2003-04 team for the best start in school history.
No. 18 Villanova 71, La Salle 58
Villanova, Pa. – Scottie Reynolds scored 19 points, and Corey Fisher added 18 for ‘Nova.
Winthrop 76, No. 19 Miami 70
Sunrise, Fla. – Senior Chris Gaynor scored a career-high 21 points, and Winthrop handed Miami its first loss.
Jack McClinton scored a season-high 30 points for Miami in the first game of an Orange Bowl Classic doubleheader.
The Eagles are 4-31 against current Atlantic Coast Conference schools, with two of the victories this season. They beat Georgia Tech on Nov. 18.

Boise, Idaho – Boise State rallied from 11 down at halftime to stun BYU.
The Broncos’ first victory over a ranked opponent in nearly three years was thanks to an inspired second half and Matt Nelson’s gritty play on the inside.
No. 21 Clemson 78, Samford 45
Clemson, S.C. – K.C. Rivers scored 16 points, and Clemson rebounded from its first loss of the season with a dominating victory.
No. 24 USC 70, UC Riverside 57
Los Angeles – Freshman O.J. Mayo scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half to help Southern California take control.
Mayo made just three of his 10 shots in the first half, but was 5-of-11 in the second.
No. 25 Rhode Island 85, Georgia Southern 80
Corpus Christi, Texas – Will Daniels scored a season-high 28 points, and Rhode Island won the Islander Invitational championship.
The up-tempo Rams, off to their best start since 1946-47, had four other players score in double figures.
Rhode Island took a 29-6 lead in the game’s first 10 minutes as Georgia Southern hit just three of its first 21 shots from the field.
