? Sade Morris displayed her upside while playing Down Under on Saturday.

Morris, a sophomore guard, scored a game-high 19 points as Kansas University’s touring women’s basketball team blitzed Logan Red, 83-56.

“Sade was on balance and knocked down some nice mid-range jumpers,” KU coach Bonnie Henrickson said. “We are going to need to see that on a consistent basis from her.”

Morris scored 14 of her points in the first half as the Jayhawks won for the second time after opening the tour with a lopsided loss in Sydney.

“This was by far our best outing of the tour,” Henrickson said. “We were much more consistent on both ends of the court, and once we got in a good rhythm, we just kept building on it.”

Ten of Morris’s points came when the Jayhawks unloaded an 18-0 haymaker during a six-minute span of the first half. Senior forward Taylor McIntosh also was instrumental in the first-half charge, as she collected nine rebounds, five points and four steals before the break.

“Taylor was missing some shots she normally makes,” Henrickson said. “However, she was still all over the court making plays for us. She sets a great tone with her energy, and her teammates followed right behind her tonight.”

All 11 KU players who made the trip scored. Danielle McCray added 17 points, Porscha Weddington 13 and Kelly Kohn 10.

McIntosh led the Jayhawks 13 boards, her second-straight double-figure rebounding game.

The barnstorming Jayhawks will conclude their junket Tuesday with a game against the Queensland U-19 state team in Cairns.
