Kansas City, Kan. ? Kansas University’s rowing team placed second at the 2007 Big 12 Invitational Sunday at Wyandotte County Lake.
Texas won the event with 55 points, followed by KU (46) and Kansas State (42).
KU’s first varsity four boat, made up of coxswain Lexie Peterson, Brooke Castrop, Hailee Jones, Abbi Huderle and Kristin Deckert, placed first in time of 8:31.0, clipping Texas by 10.8 seconds and K-State by nearly a minute. The victory was worth seven points.
The second varsity eight boat, consisting of Ashley Hughes, Melissa Oliver, Elisheva Patterson, Tricia Sawtelle, Ashley Broockerd, Whitney Fasbender, Megan Heacock, Annie Sims and coxswain Samira Naji placed third in 8:05.6.
The first varsity eight boat, featuring coxswain Katie Brosious, Lindsey Miles, Jelayna Da Silva, Tiffany Jeffers, Kara Boston, Carrie Selden, Lindsey Lawrence, Valerie Jackson and LlynnAnn Laugesen, placed second.
