Who you play often means more than where you play.
That may be the explanation for the Kansas University softball team’s glaring home-road disparity. Against Big 12 Conference foes, the Jayhawks are 0-7 at home, but 6-1 away from Arrocha Ballpark.
“It’s frustrating not getting the home wins,” KU coach Tracy Bunge said, “but I love the way we’ve been playing on the road.”
Notably, however, the seven home defeats have been inflicted by the league’s first-division teams, while the six road wins have come against second-division clubs.
In other words, the Jayhawks’ home schedule has featured the Big 12’s best teams, a coincidence that won’t change when KU concludes its home season this weekend against Oklahoma.
Game times are 2 p.m. today and 1 p.m. Sunday.
