? Gary Woodland is tied for eighth place, and Kansas University is in ninth place after Day One of the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championships on Monday at Prairie Dunes Golf Club.

KU shot 302-311-613. Oklahoma leads the team race with 579 strokes.

Woodland shot 147.

“The main thing about Prairie Dunes is that if you hit the ball on the wrong side of green, that is where you get into a lot of trouble, and that is where our guys had a lot of trouble,” KU coach Ross Randall. “They just hit it above the hole a lot of times where they can’t be aggressive at all with any kind of putts.”

Other KU scores: Walt Koelbel, tied for 28th, 152 strokes; Barrett Martens, tied for 36th, 154; Joey Mundy, tied for 54th, 160; and Tyler Docking, tied for 57th, 165.

Oscar Floren of Texas Tech is the individual leader with 141 strokes. The third and final round is today.
