Austin, Texas ? Kansas University’s Egor Agafonov won the men’s hammer throw with a toss of 223 feet, 4 inches Thursday during the opening day of the Texas Relays.
Agafonov was one of three Jayhawks to earn qualifying marks for the Midwest Regional Championships.
Zlata Tarasova threw the hammer 200-01 to finish second in the women’s competition, while Janiece Gatson clocked 1 minute, 0.76 seconds in the women’s 400-meter hurdles, finishing 19th.
