KU tennis sends 2 to semis

? Kansas University freshman Kunigunda Dorn, competing in her first collegiate tournament, advanced to the semifinals of the Flight C doubles bracket with teammate Yuliana Svistun, and she also won her first match in the Flight B singles bracket, highlighting a strong opening day for the Jayhawks at the Deacon Classic.

Dorn defeated Ohio State’s Ally Mueller, 6-3, 6-4, to move on to today’s singles quarterfinals. The Sopron, Hungary, native joins sophomore Edina Horvath, who beat Syracuse’s Katie Bramante in the Flight C singles draw, and Svistun, who had a first-round bye in Flight D, as quarterfinalists in their respective brackets.

Sophomore Ksenia Bukina and juniors Lauren Hommell and Stephanie Smith each fell in their first match of the day.
