Questions : you have questions about football. Perhaps these are some of them:

What is Kansas University’s record against so-called hyphen schools?

Saturday’s 21-19 squeaker over Louisiana-Monroe boosted the Jayhawks’ record against hyphen schools to 5-0. The other four victories were over Alabama-Birmingham, including that nail-biting four-overtime 39-37 thriller in 1998. (Note: The official names of two other KU foes are Nebraska-Lincoln and Missouri-Columbia, but neither Big 12 university falls under the connotation of a hyphen school).

Whatever happened to Joe Dailey, the Nebraska University quarterback who left Lincoln after throwing 19 interceptions during the 2004 season?

Dailey surfaced at North Carolina, and appears to be up to his old, uh, picks. After sitting out the ’05 season, Dailey started at QB in the Tar Heels’ season opener against Rutgers and tossed four interceptions. Then, after Dailey had two passes filched in the first half Saturday against Virginia Tech, he was benched.

How are the quarterbacking Meier brothers – Dylan at Kansas State and Kerry at Kansas – faring statistically after the first two weeks of the season?

Both the Wildcats and Jayhawks are off to 2-0 starts, but not necessarily because of their quarterbacks. Kerry, a freshman, ranks No. 10 in the Big 12 in passing efficiency, and Dylan, a senior, is right behind. Curiously, their aerial numbers are virtually alike. Kerry has completed 24 of 45 passes for 295 yards and Dylan 25 of 46 for 288 yards. Kerry has the edge, though, because he has thrown four TD passes, two more than his older brother. By the way, toss in Iowa State’s Bret Meyer, and the Big 12 has to be the only league in the country with three quarterbacks with the same-sounding last name.

What happened to NCAA Div. I-AA Montana State the week after the Bobcats stunned Colorado in Boulder, Colo.?

Chadron (Neb.) State, an NCAA Div. II school, stunned the ‘Cats, 35-24, in Bozeman, Mont. – a score that, I’m sure, has found its way to New York. Stony Brook U., a small school located on Long Island, will be playing this weekend at New Hampshire, no doubt hoping the New Englanders will suffer a similar letdown after shocking Northwestern, 34-17, last weekend in Evanston, Ill.

Has Lawrence High ever posted a winning record after losing its first two football games?

Five times the Lions have dropped their first two games, and only once were they able to rebound and post a winning record. That was in 1983 when Lawrence High won six of its last nine games after opening with back-to-back losses to Shawnee Mission East and SM West.

How many times has Kansas failed to win a single game during a season?

Just once. In 117 years (including this season), the Jayhawks’ lone no-win season was in 1954, when coach Chuck Mather’s first-year club went 0-10. KU has had six one-win seasons, the latest in 1988 (1-10), Glen Mason’s first year.
