Huskers move past UT loss

? Defensive end Jay Moore says Nebraska isn’t going to let a heartbreaking loss ruin its season for the second year in a row.

A 34-31 defeat to Texas Tech opened a stretch of losses in four of five games that knocked Nebraska out of the Big 12 North race last season. The Cornhuskers ended up in the Alamo Bowl for the second time in three years.

Moore said the Huskers learned from last year’s collapse and won’t let last week’s 22-20 loss to Texas have the same effect on them.

Their sights, he said, are set on the Big 12 title game in Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 2 and a Bowl Championship Series bid.

“We’re hungry. We know where we want to be in the first week of December and in January,” Moore said. “We know we don’t want to be back in San Antonio. We don’t want to be watching the Big 12 championship game at home. We know we can be there and win.”

The 20th-ranked Huskers (6-2, 3-1 Big 12) visit Oklahoma State (4-3, 1-2) today. They play co-North Division leader Missouri next week.

Nebraska coach Bill Callahan said he isn’t concerned about an emotional hangover this week.

“I really look at our football team as a solid character group of players that embrace one another … and understand the expectations of Nebraska football,” Callahan said. “And I think they put things behind them pretty quickly, no matter who the opponent is, and they’ve moved on.”
