Colorado breaks through at Red Raiders’ expense

? Bernard Jackson didn’t expect the fans to storm the field or carry him off on their shoulders.

“I guess they were excited for the win,” Jackson said.

They weren’t the only ones. The Colorado players mingled and celebrated right along with the fans after the Buffaloes’ 30-6 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday.

Dan Hawkins earned his long-awaited first victory at Colorado, and CU snapped a 10-game losing streak.

Colorado (1-6, 1-2 Big 12) held high-powered Texas Tech (4-3, 1-2) scoreless through three quarters, which hadn’t happened since Sept. 29, 1999, against Texas.

No. 6 Texas 63, Baylor 31

Austin, Texas – Colt McCoy set a school record with six touchdown passes as the Longhorns (6-1, 3-0) recovered from an early 10-point deficit.

Shawn Bell passed for 303 yards and two touchdowns and even caught one on a trick play in the third quarter for Baylor (3-4, 2-1).

No. 23 Oklahoma 34, Iowa State 9

Norman, Okla. – Adrian Peterson broke his collarbone on a fourth-quarter dive into the end zone during the Sooners’ victory.

The injury occurred at the end of a 53-yard touchdown run with about 6:40 left in the game.

Paul Thompson threw for two TDs for Oklahoma (4-2, 1-1).

Bret Meyer finished with 149 yards on 14-for-24 passing for Iowa State (3-4, 0-3).
