Tyrel Reed, a senior point guard from Burlington (Kan.) high school, has called a 3 p.m. news conference today – the last day of the early college basketballl signing period – to announce his college choice.

His dad – and high school coach – Stacy, said Wednesday morning the finalists are Kansas, Stanford, Missouri, Oklahoma and Missouri State.

Reed, who led Burlington to an undefeated regular season last year before being upset in the first round of the Class 3A state tournament, averaged 22.6 points, 6.1 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game as a junior. He ranks as the No. 99 prospect in the class of 2007 by rivals.com, and is classified the No. 14 point guard.

He was on hand for an unofficial visit at last Saturday’s 91-57 Kansas University opening night victory over Northern Arizona.
