TULSA, OKLA. ? Kansas University’s Sheldon Battle and Cody Roberts finished 1-2 in the discus to highlight the Jayhawk track and field teams’ outdoor-season opener Saturday at the Tulsa Duels.
Battle won with a throw of 177-feet, 7-inches, while Roberts was second at 177-0. KU’s Abby Emsick won the women’s discus at 165-9, and Denita Young won the javelin at 154-6.
Kansas’ other winners: Brett Terp, high jump, 6-83â4; Julius Jiles, 110 hurdles, 14.12 seconds; and the women’s 1,600 relay team, 3:45.32.
KU will travel April 6 to the Texas Relays.
