— Sophomore John Allman's RBI single in the ninth inning propelled Kansas University's baseball squad to a 6-5 victory over No. 18 Baylor on Saturday.

Senior Don Czyz (3-0) earned the win in relief for the No. 25-ranked Jayhawks (16-7 overall, 1-1 Big 12 Conference). Czyz pitched 22â3 scoreless innings in relief of starter Ricky Fairchild.

KU began its scoring in the first when senior Gus Milner's two-out single scored junior Kyle Murphy. The Bears promptly scored four runs in the bottom half, however, to take a 4-1 lead.

The Jayhawks responded with four runs in the third. After Jared Schweitzer walked and Milner doubled, Allman singled to score Schweitzer. Sophomore Erik Morrison then blasted a three-run homer.

Baylor tied it at 5 in the sixth, and the game was scoreless until the ninth.

The series will wrap up with a 1 p.m. game today.
