Kansas University senior Crystal Kemp was named Big 12 Player of the Week for January 3 along with Oklahoma freshman Courtney Paris, who also collected Rookie of the Week honors from the conference.

The Jayhawks senior, who collected the award for the second time this season, helped lead KU to three victories and the best start in school history as she averaged 22.7 points and 8.7 rebounds last week.

Behind Kemp, Kansas improved to a perfect 11-0 in nonconference play for the first time ever. Kemp posted 16 points, eight rebounds, two steals, two blocks and an assist while playing 39 minutes in a 63-52 win over Creighton.

After the holiday break, Kemp just missed her career-high by one point when she finished with 27 points, nine rebounds, one block, one steal, and an assist in a 73-60 victory over Pepperdine.

Two days later, Kemp, who has scored 20 or more points in four of KU’s last five games, scored 25 points to go with nine boards, three blocks and an assist in a full 40 minutes of action during Kansas’ comeback victory, 75-72, over LaSalle.
