Dallas ? Oklahoma State senior Mario Boggan and Texas freshman Kevin Durant are the Phillips 66 Big 12 men’s basketball player and rookie of the week, respectively.
Boggan, a 6-foot-7, 235-pound forward, averaged 25.0 points and 7.5 rebounds as the Cowboys finished with a 1-1 record last week.
Boggan scored a career-high 30 points with a key basket in the final minute of a 95-89 double-overtime victory against then No. 7 Pittsburgh on Thursday. He also had nine rebounds, two assists and one steal.
On Dec. 18, he had 20 points and six rebounds as OSU dropped a 79-77 decision at Tennessee.
Durant, at 6-foot-9 and 225 pounds, had 27.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as the Longhorns split two contests.
The freshman tallied a game-high 28 points to go along with 13 rebounds in 32 minutes during a 80-76 win at Arkansas. He followed with 26 points and eight boards in a 111-105 overtime loss at Tennessee.
Boggan wins the honor for the second time this year, while Durant captures accolades for the third time.
