No. 8 Marquette fights off Northwestern St.

? Ousmane Barro had a career-high 21 points and tied a personal best with 13 rebounds to help No. 8 Marquette beat Northwestern State, 83-67, in the Blue & Gold Classic on Friday night.

Dominic James scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half, and Wes Matthews finished with 14 points for Marquette, which will play North Dakota State in the championship game of the four-team tournament today.

Barro also blocked three shots.

Colby Bargeman led Northwestern State with 17 points and Trey Gilder added 13.

Rice 79, No. 10 Texas A&M 66

Houston – Lauren Neaves had 20 points and 20 rebounds and Valeriy Berezhynska scored 21 points to help Rice pull the upset.

A’Quonesia Franklin had 16 points for the Aggies, who climbed into the Top 10 for the first time ever this week.

Fresno St. 74, No. 25 Texas Tech 65

Fresno, Calif. – Tierre Wilson scored 20 points, and Chantella Perera had 17 points and six assists in Fresno State’s upset.

Erin Myrick had 21 points and nine rebounds, and Alesha Robinson had 17 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for the Red Raiders.
