Former Kansas University football player Charles Gordon, who hurt his left knee in practice with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, was on crutches Friday and will have a procedure performed Monday to repair cartilage damage.
The cornerback/punt returner will be out for the remainder of the preseason, meaning the undrafted free agent could be a candidate to make the Vikes’ roster as a practice-squad player his rookie season.
He was pulled off the field during a 7-on-7 pass drill on Thursday and removed on a cart.
On Wednesday, Gordon had intercepted a Tarvaris Jackson pass and forced rookie fullback Steven Jackson to fumble after a hard hit.
“That kid can play,” corner Antoine Winfield said. “It seems like every chance he has to make on the ball, he’s making one. Somebody coached him well.”
