KU sophomore Agafonov wins hammer throw

? Kansas University sophomore Egor Agafonov won the Drake Relays hammer throw Saturday in a school-record distance of 233 feet, zero inches. Agafonov broke his previous KU best mark of 228-6 and now has the second longest throw in the country this season.

KU freshman Zlata Tarasova placed eighth in the women’s hammer in 177-7.

Sheldon Battle placed third in the shot in a season-best 65-113â4, the second-best collegiate throw this season.

Charisse Bacchus placed second in the long jump in 19-43â4. The women’s sprint medley team of Victoria Howard, Crystal Manning, Charity Stowers and Angela Pichardo placed fifth in 3:58.41.
