KU lacrosse makes playoffs

Kansas University’s lacrosse club went 3-0 over the weekend and wrapped up its first playoff spot.

Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa, the Jayhawks beat Chicago, 11-4, and Iowa, 12-6.

In the first game, Lisa Allen had three goals and two assists, Maddie Meyers had two goals and two assists, and Emily Ratzlaff scored two goals.

Allen and Meyers each had four goals against Iowa.

Kansas won its regular-season finale, 11-1, Sunday. The Jayhawks led, 6-0, at halftime and stretched the lead to 10-0. Crystal Thomas scored three times on just four shots, while Allen added to her season record of goals and assists with her 71st and 72nd goals and her 23rd assist.

Stacy Seglem scored twice, while Jessica Wright, Laura Swick, Kristen Sheahen and Malorie Hebert scored once each.

KU will face defending league champion Lindenwood University at Lindenwood on April 22 in the first round of the playoffs.
