KU’s Bacchus second at Texas long jump

? Kansas University’s Charisse Bacchus placed second in the long jump to highlight KU’s Friday at the Texas Relays.

Bacchus went 20 feet, 7 inches, a regionally qualifying score.

KU’s Sheldon Battle moved up one spot from fifth to fourth on KU’s all-time performance list in the discus. His throw of 191-8 moved him past former Kansas great Karl Salb and was good for fourth place overall in Section A and was also a regionally qualifying performance.

Cody Roberts recorded a 173-11 in the discus to place fifth in Section B and notch another regionally qualifying mark.

Kansas’ Crystal Manning had a wind-aided leap of 41-21â4 in the triple jump to place seventh, and Abby Emsick was 11th in the discus at 155-6.

KU’s Aaron Thompson and Julius Jiles failed to advance to today’s finals in the 110-meter hurdles.
